What is a backlink?
A backlink is a hyperlink on one website that points to a page on a different website. If a news site links to your guide, that link is a backlink to you. Search engines use backlinks to find new pages and as a signal of how trusted and useful a page is.
Related SEO terms
A referring domain is a website that links to your site at least once. Each domain counts once, no matter how many links it sends.
Anchor text is the visible, clickable text of a link. Search engines read it as a clue to what the linked page is about.
A dofollow link is a normal link with no rel="nofollow", "sponsored" or "ugc" value, so it can pass ranking credit to the page it points to.
Lost backlinks are links that used to point to your site but no longer do, because the link, page or target URL changed or was removed.
Link intersect finds websites that link to several of your competitors but not to you. Those sites are your most likely link prospects.

Is there a country to pick?
No. Backlinks are the same wherever you search from, so the backlink checker has no market.
Do I need a project?
No. The SEO tools work on their own, in any market you pick. Keywords you find can be saved to a project in one click when you want to track them.
Can I share a result?
Yes. The search, the market and the open tab are all in the page address, so a link or a bookmark opens the same view. Anyone opening it runs the search with their own key; a repeat of something already looked up is served from the cache for free.
